Easiest Content Strategy
In today's fast-paced digital world, effective time management is the key to success. Invest your time and effort wisely, focusing on what truly drives results.
Find Your Audience
Identify your target audience and their preferences.
Ask yourself: what content do they engage with? What stops them from scrolling?
Draft a flexible plan for creating that type of content. Keep it simple.
Example: Simple TikTok Content Model
This is the CAR method. I made up the acronym, but this plan exists in other forms. Here’s a simple, flexible plan. Businesses call this an iterative approach. Things are kept flexible on purpose, so your plan can constantly improve itself.
Think CAR: Create, Analyse, Repeat.
Create content. Most of your videos will emulate trending video styles. Make them relevant for your audience. Some of your videos will be original. Catchy hook, engaging visuals, and on-brand. Don't obsess over perfection. Post often. Cross-post. TikTok, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels. More views, more engagement.
Analyse the data through analytics, identifying how your audience responded to each video. What worked with your audience.
Adapt to the results. Incorporate more of what worked, and less of what didn’t work with your audience.
Repeat the cycle. The changes you made will make the next cycle produce better results, like a snowball effect. Or a CARR driving down a hill without brakes.
CAR Method as the Main Approach
The CAR strategy is a plan that improves itself. That means that it can work for your entire content strategy. Here’s an example.
Say you’re a fitness influencer who sells gym t-shirts.
Cycle 1.
You create Facebook posts, Instagram Posts, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, TikToks, YouTube Videos, YouTube Shorts, and write a blog.
You analyse the data. Say most of your views are coming from TikToks, YouTube, and Instagram Reels.
You now repeat the cycle, focusing on the platforms that worked for you.
Cycle 2.
Focusing on what worked, you mostly create Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Videos. Since you now have more time, you experiment more with audio, caption styles, and thumbnails.
You analyse the data. You noticed your Instagram Reels work best with trending audio and black captions on white background. Your YouTube videos work best when the thumbnail has words in it.
You now repeat the cycle, focusing on the improvements.
Cycle 3.
Now you mostly create Instagram Reels with trending audio and black captions on white background. You experiment more with different opening hooks. All of your YouTube Videos have thumbnails with words in them. You experiment with different intros.
You analyse the data. You noticed your Instagram Reels work best when your opening hook is “Most people don’t know this, but-” Your YouTube videos work best with no intro. You finally noticed your TikTok audience demographic is younger males.
You now repeat the cycle, following the data.
Cycle 4.
You now create Instagram Reels using everything you learned, experimenting with video lengths. You create YouTube Videos, experimenting with a new series. You cater your TikToks for a younger audience, simplifying the language.
You analyse the data and change things accordingly.
You repeat the cycle, experimenting with new variables.
After just 4 cycles, look how different the content strategy is. Each improvement is backed by real data.
Why it Works So Well
That’s why I like the iterative, simple approach. Most plans spend so much time focusing on Cycle 1, because their plan isn’t as flexible. But not with the CAR method. When you Create, you get data fast. When you Analyse, you find out how to improve. When you Repeat, your plan has improved.
Let me say it another way. The cumulative impact of consistent output can outweigh the quest for flawlessness.
Exceptions
If spending an extra 4 hours editing a YouTube video gives you 5x as many views, it now becomes more efficient to reduce quantity for improved quality. In that case, dedicating extra time for that piece of content is well worth it. Eventually, it might become worth it to outsource that process entirely.
Stay focused, stay efficient, and drive impactful results in the world of content creation. And remember: Keep it Simple.
